DRIVING IN CZECH REPUBLIC
Most visitors to the Czech Republic head straight for Prague, but the rest of the country - a beautiful mix of mountains, lakes, spa towns and castles - repays closer investigation by car. To use the motorway network you must display a vignette which can be purchased at the border. Do not drink any alcohol at all before driving. Use dipped headlamps at all times during the winter months. Give way to buses and trams. Take care at level crossings, which often have no barrier, and keep to 3Okph when approaching them. Accidents causing injury or more than minor damage must be reported to the police, who can collect on-the-spot fines.
